I want to add a Yellow Candy Hogfish to my 34 gl tank. It is comatible with my livestock....but, I want a very active fish. Will this fish hide or hang out in view? I understand that all fish are different...but Im looking for a general rule of thumb.

WILL THIS FISH BE OK WITH MY 2 FIREFISH? VERY SMALL 1.5"

Thanks

yeah...4" is kinda big....im thinking about it. I think my 34 is alittle on the small side, but not by to much.
I will have netting on the tank(and a cover above that)...I get my 2 firefish tomorrow

oh yeah...thank you

They are super active fish, and probably won't hide at all. I agree with Mike Marrone though - I think the main problem is not with the gallonage of your tank (which is perfectly good for a candy hog) but the way the gallonage is apportioned. Because they're active fish, they tend to zip around the tank a lot, so horizontal width is more important for these fish than height. If you go for it, just watch and make sure he doesn't get stressed out and look for one on the smaller side.

The other thing to keep in mind is that wrasses and hogfish will pick your rock all the time. They will decimate your pod population. If your mandarin is still alive, this could really hurt his chances.
