I have a tang with ich in a 55 gallon tank. It is a Lollipop Tang that has ich. I quarinteen him with copper in a 30 gallon for about 2 weeks or until it is gone, but after he is better and I put him back into the main tank he gets ich again within 2 weeks. In the main tank I have a UV sterilizer on there and I have treated my main tank for ich once ( my uv got unpluged, and the ich from my lollipop spread). All the levels in my tank are perfect. All my other fish are fine in there, they don't have ich. What should I do so he will stop getting ich. In my main tank I have 6 fish in there (including lollipop tang). I baby yellow tang, a small blueface angel ( he has his adult colors but is only about 3-4 inches, a fiji blue dot puffer (dwarf puffer, is only 3 inches), a lunare wrasse (baby) and a true black phoenix percula and the lollipop with ich. I know there are a alot of fish in there even though they are small, but I raise them in there until they get too big and then a put them in one of my 125 gallons. All the fish have been in there together over 6 months now and none of them ever fought. In the main tank I treated the tank with seacure, but in my quarinteen tank I use coppersafe ( I like coppersafe better even though seacure is stronger). This tank has been set up for over a year now.

Maybe hes being bullied when you dont see. Do you feed a wide variety of foods? selcon and garlic xtreme shoul definitely help. The slightest change in anything could cause an ich outbreak in sensitive tangs

Proper treatment using medication for ich should be done in a QT for a minumum of 6 weeks during which time the main display tank should remain empty of ANY fish.
SeaCure is a copper based medication and should NOT be used in a reef tank, or a tank containing live rock and sand.

IMO your tank is very overtsocked and overstocking causes stress. Stress is a major contributor to ich.
You need to alleviate the stress in your tank, in addition to addressing the ich issue properly.

I agree with KAthyC. Tank may be overstock for the tang. He is stressing himself out with the other Tank mates. I used to have an achilles awhile back when he was in my main tank he got stressed for no reason and broke out. When I put him in a tank by himself he was fine. and I have achilles know in my main tank that ia doing great. I still have the other one in a tank by himself and he is fine.
I think it varies from fish to fish. Like people with social disorders :biglaugh:

you can try taking some of your other fishes out of that 55 for a few weeks to let the lollipop get comfortable in the 55 and then add one fish back at a time over a few weeks and see if he still gets stress with ick.
