For those who own Copperband Butterfly fish, has there been a negative affect on the corals in your reef tank? Thats if its in a Reef not Fowlr setup. I know there is a chance of Copperband nipping and zoas so i'm asking to check if its happend to anyone.

I have a Copperband Butterfly in my reef tank which also has zoas in it and I have no problem with the fish going after coals. Before you add one you should know there picky eaters and mine only eats mysis shrimp. Hope that helps you:)

Mine was fine for a year, then suddenly had a taste for Acan lords.
Took them all out.

Yep....depending on where you get it, they have a bad track record getting them to eat.

Not proud to say it...
but throughout the years, I went through a couple before I had one actually survive.
& my overall fish survival rate is pretty good.

I have a copper band, interesting beautifull fish, he leaves my corals alone (My majanos too !) but I don't have zoas in my tank...many other things though...

Make sure you see it eating mysis at the LFS though !

I bought a CBB at a store where the fish ate frozen in front of me, was a voracious eater in my tank, didn't touch any corals (including zoas), and still went to fish heaven after a month in my tank... I had a green mandarin in the tank at the time - and he is still there (so plentiful copepods were present).

That was my second CBB - the first one never ate (including live foods).

I would leave them be... Your mileage may, of course, vary.

best left in the ocean. even when eating they will die for no apparent reason.

I got my CBB nice and fat feeding it mussels.

Do you want them to get rid of aiptasia? If so, please reconsider, getting a bunch of peppermints is better for many reasons. If your getting it because it is simply one of the nicest looking fish in the hobby, then first look for someone selling/trading/giving one away because they are already known to survive. And I agree, way to random for my taste, hopefully someone can figure out whats up with these guys...

I actually have no aiptasia in my tank. The peppermint shrimp i have took care of them. Now the peppermint shrimp is eating pellets.
As for the copperband, i was just curious in knowing about other MR members experience with the fish. I rarely see places selling them also. Thanks for the responses.
