I moved my tank recently and it was a great success except for I had one death, Joe my Pseudochromis.
It was a very odd death. About 6 months ago I realized that Joe's belly was really big. He spent alot of time in the rocks so I figured he just found a natural food source. Other than that he acted as he usually does.
When I moved he got super stressed out. When I put him into the new tank he instantly stuck his head into the gravel and started gorging himself on sand and detritus. He simply stuck his head in the sand bed and ate. It was the oddest thing. I could even reach down and pull him out of the bed.
The next morning he was dead with a hugely bloated belly. Does anyone know why this may have happened. I understand he was stressed from the move, but to gorge himself to death is just odd.
Was he trying to burrow? Did he have a stomach parasite all along? It is sad, I had him for 5 years and it sucks to see him go.
