Venutus or purple mask angel

Hi everyone,

I picked up a Venutus angle last week and wanted to see if anybody else has had experience with one. Let me say, I should have done further research on the fish before buying it, but it looks awesome. He is acclimating in my refugium, and I have seen him actually eat frozen food (mysis, brine and formula2) as well as formula 2 flakes. From what I have read half the battle is getting these guys to eat.

My concern is acclimating to main tank 120 with (wrasses; flame, rhomboid, labouti, eight line-red sea), square back anthias, purple tang and clown fish). Does he have a fighting chance? Should I keep him in the refugium for few weeks until he is completely de-stressed and becomes bolder.

I read something about acclimating deep water fish to bright lights? Not sure how that works? Any advice.


Any advice or personal experience is greatly appreciated.

I have one for over a year now on my 125G tank.
Great fish, does not disturb any of coral and eats everything from frozen to flakes food.
