Dwarf lionfish floating upside down...

Tried looking online, but didn't see any feasible information regarding this.
Been feeding him guppies as he is a bit small only 1.5" Feed him every 3rd or 4th day. Was fine yesterday did a 20% WC was swimming well even after WC. After I put the feeders in I found him last night floating around being pushed around by the current.
Nitrites 0 ppm
PH 8.3
Nitrates 0 ppm
Salinity 1.023 ppm

Keeping lights off and have him right now in a breeding net. He's breathing normally and I know he ate cause I found a half digested guppy. I'm wondering if he got some kind of gas and can't release or something worse.

Anyone else experience this problem?

It's likely that the lion just has gas, and the indigestion has caused him to float. Try to feed him silversides or krill on a feeding stick and squeeze the food before you place it on the stick to release any gas the food contains.

silversides are just too big for him to eat right now. That's why I'm feeding him baby guppies instead.
Can barely find frozen krill around, so I'll try putting him on some shrimp chunks next time I feed him.

try cutting the silversides into smaller pieces. the head and tail have little nutritional value anyway

i'm not sure about feeding fw fish to sw.imo

I would have to filet a silverside for him to eat it, and that is not happening.

Gas??

Saltwater fish get little to no nutritional benefit from freshwater fish that are not gut loaded with food made for saltwater fish.

If the fish is floating upside down there is a severe problem with that fish and it needs to be looked at closely. It could be lots of things. You may want to remove to a QT tank and watch him more closely.

There aren't many live things I can put in that he can eat. Even some live shrimp are too big. Tried it already. I've been trying to ween him off live so that I can just feed pieces of market shrimp.

feeding fw fish to saltwater is a bad idea. the nutritional requirements differ. maybe look into hatching brine shrimp if he makes it?

Gut load the guppies MYSIS or SW food if they take it.
