Hole in the head disease

I do not know if this has been a toppic of this fourm but i want to avoid this as much as possible, I have read and alo see this in marine fish. The big quetion is as I add the fish to my tank I would like to know how to avoid this as much as possible. Please advise? :tub:

stray voltage...add a ground probe
feed with vitamins and a variety of food

Hippo tangs are the most common fish to get HILLE
some other tangs tend to get it too Sailfin tangs and Sohal tangs ect..

People tend to see this in cichlids more due to lack of vitamins/minerals in food/water, as cichlid water is supposed to be high mineral content, and bad water quality.

So, keep up maintenance, dont stress out the fish and feed with good foods and you won;t have this problem. Also, stray voltage is a big key as it will stress out fish and cause other problems aside from HILLE in your tank. Probes are a must. Ground your tanks.

Does hole-in-the-head always appear as an erosion or ulceration? I have a koran angel that I have had for years. Soon after getting it, its head turned gray....and has remained that way ever since. The rest of the body looks beautiful, and it appears to be very healthy, but the head is plain gray. No erosion, sores, or holes. My son says its HILLE....but as I said, there is no erosion, and the area has remained stable for years.
