You've seen my tank. I prefer diversity. Having the lights raised, to me allows a more natural look, with the higher light demanding corals up high. Just a personal preference. Of which there are soooo many in this hobby. Allows for more than one way to do things right.

But you have t5's which give more homogeneous illumination, so I really think its a different situation.

Damnit Russ, I have to change my lights because of you. I was trying to not think about it since I saw your tank but I'm making the switch to t5's. But I'm going to have to find the right fixture first.

Homogeneous light, easier to change/create spectrum, just seems like it will be better for my setup. I think i will go with a 8 t5's over my 120.

As far as the par vs. cooling thing, here is a quote from Heinz on the Zeovit forum.

german ATI thread
on page 3 on that thread is a comparison of the old ATI T5 and the new ATI T5, the last picture is the new T5 without the fan running,
it is sad to see that Oliver Pritzel (owner of ATI) has a great product on his hands but somehow can't get the distribution worked out

In that thread on pg 3 the par drops from 660 to 542 when the fan is turned off.

Russ -

Man you have to see the ATI fixtures. SLS won't sell them because they will compete with the TEK's but the new ATI fixtures have fans built in for active cooling. People have seen an increase in par with the fans.
