If you have the ESV and its the salt you want to use, why would you start off with RC ? If you have left over and don't wish to give, sell or dispose then use it up and begin the change with your first water change. ESV is easy to use and you should have no problems with the change.

If you have the RC left over, I'd use it. No harm done, it's only the cycle. If you're thinking about buying a new bucket of RC and then switching over to ESV, I wouldn't waste the time doing that.

I have about less than half a bucket of rc. I'm going to be transferring old water little by little into the new tank, so that I don't have to do a full cycle. Basically, every water change in old tank, I'll take that water and put into new tank. So newtank will be mixed if I start new tank w esv. Will it shock corals/livestock?
