I use a 32 gallon brute garbage can to put my r/o water into then I throw a heater in the with a pump and circulate the water. Once the water is at temp I add salt in for a couple of days to get it to 1.026. When I go to do my water change, I notice there is a brownish film all around the garbage can inside. Anyone have this same problem with a brute or know what this is?

Yeah I get it too if the water is left in for a while. I use a tank scrubber with the 12" handle and vinegar with some fresh water to rinse afterwards. I haven't had it happen since I do this after a few water changes. My be overkill but vinegar is cheap and it only takes 20 minutes every few weeks. I also don't let my ESV sit for that long, I give it 18 hours or so then use it and the pal is air dried until the next water change.

I get the same thing if I leave it too long also. I usually make the water on Friday night, (with heater and circulator pump), add salt on Saturday, and do the wc either sat night or Sunday. If I leave it for a week, it get the brown stuff. Also check your pump for the brown stuff too.
