BB Refugium idea?

I have a similar sump in my tank 120g FOWLR. http://www.aquacave.com/adhi-refugium-45-br-refugium-sump-brby-aquatic-design-br-habitats-1050.html I have the filter sock on the left side the middle has the protein skimmer and the right side has the sponge as seen in the photo and far right is the return to the tank. Would I be able to just convert this to a refugium and add a light and sand etc to the middle of the sump. The skimmer I have is huge and takes most of the middle of the sump. What if I eliminate the skimmer since it is a FOWLR?

it would be better off to take a pic of the sump u have right now. c if i can have an idea of what your trying to do.

I read my sump and it said refugium lol.

It looks like the chamber where your skimmer is located is the refugium area. Lol...
