Hey,
Woke up this morning to find my emarald crab dead. When I put him in my tank a few days ago he went to hide in my LR. After about 20 minutes alot of sand was flying around. I couldn't see what was happening but while the sand started to settle my Goby came out from close to where I saw the crab last and the sand was coming form. Is it possible that my Goby killed him?

Jesus the way you described it sounds like the work of a mantis shrimp :-/

Crap! Maybe you can tell me. Crab was upside down and not moving at all. I assumed it was dead right away. When I netted him he didn't move either. I flushed him. Please tell me I didn't kill him ?

If the crab molted it would be very soft, if you netted it you would have hopefully known if it was a molt or the actual crab. My fireshrimp molted last night but only the very front part of his body i saw....

IMO with most shrimp, it's easier to tell if it's a molted shell, due to the transparancy. Crabs on the other hand, are more difficult to ascertain.

For now the only way to tell would be to wait and see if the crab shows up in the tank. For the future, if you take the "body" and inspect it, the carapace should open easily and the shell would be empty if it's a molt.
