ok before anyone goes haywire on me its just a question lmfao.
i wanted to see if anyone has any experience with the metal halide series from odyssea after they switched ballasts. i have read mixed reviews most are actually good rather than bad. the light would be going over a lps dominated 135 6ft tank. the light is a 72in 3x250 watt and pc actinics with 12 led moonlights. would the lighting be sufficiant and i would eventually turn to ice cap ballasts if the ballasts seem shady but overall the fixture is more than half the price of any other company . what do you guys think

I had one. The 36 inch 4 bulb t5 and single bulb 250w mh. I liked it, but then I realized, I hated metal halide. Halides to me are garbage, a good t5 fixture is much better. 6 or 8 bulb. The fixture though never got that hot, and ran fine, good fans. Although, ALL the bulbs have to be changed if you get the fixture. The 14k bulb it comes with looks more like a 6k yellow, and the stock t5 bulbs are always garbage...

Save your money and buy a quality light fixture. If not bump up your fire insurance for your home.

I won't say anything about fires because I know that's not the case about it anymore, but, the really are just garbage. If you take the screws out, they just break, the reflectors are the worst I've ever seen and paper thin, you can flick it and it dents, and the ballasts are just crap and crap out pretty quickly. The sockets are plastic. The legs are cheaply made. Te bulbs they come with are practically output of a t8 bulb. The plastic guard to protect lights Always ends up breaking, and get stuck. The fans, well the fans are good for keeping it cool now, but, I honestly bet you could take the fixture at both ends, twist it opposite ways, and bend it in a complete 360.

That's my final 2 cents to clarify them.

I have 5 right now, sitting in my garage and I can not even give them away...

Oh mistake then i just said that since alot people dont like odyssea lights.

I felt the same way, when I owned one. Then I bought a real fixture. That was probably the best investment I ever did. I could honestly say my tank would not look the way it does today in terms of color/coral health and growth if I still had an odyssea fixture. I always was in denial saying that a t5 fixture was a t5 fixture. How could it possible be any different? Haha. Boy was I wrong...

Anyway, back on topic, why are you looking at this fixture? I'm guessing price primarily? What type of reef you looking to do? Maybe we can guide you into finding a better, and affordable fixture rather then that one
