I haven't had a chance to set my tank up and had it been set up when I lost power Saturday and 12:30 AM and finally had it restored at 1:30 PM Saturday afternoon, I would have panicked for sure.

I know there is a thread on emergency measures but I was wondering what is the bare minimum that I would have had to do to keep my tank maintained during the power outage? I am trying to get an idea on preparation now before the next outage.

Thanks,

Joe

Oxygen!

2 battery operated air pumps(one for display, one for the sump) that turned on automatically when power off. Cost less than $15@. Much easier than back up battery setup if your system or budget is small.

You can also get the oxygenater, you may want to ask Bob1000 which one is good. He has a thread about his experience with them, search for it.

Lost power for a few hours this weekend. My UPS powered my return pump for the duration of the outage. The UPS is the best thing in my opinion to a generator. It takes over immediately in the event of a power loss and there is no need to be home. A couple of my corals didn't fare too well due to the lack of light they required because the outages happened during my daylight cycle for 2 days but everything else is doing well.
