The plexi I need is for baffles, I don't care what color it is. Typically this stuff is relatively cheap, so, don't worry about the cost - don't go spending a ton either

I really only need about 5 feet, if you get 8 it shouldn't be more than $40 (I think)

I spoke to a friend about this. one thing is a fact, after friday industrial plastics is history, sucks for buying plastic on canal.
so after friday they are not getting back in to clear anything out.
so if anything is going to get thrown away it will probably be by the workers who go in to gut the space for the next tenant. when this is could be hard to find out. I'll ask someone in the store and see if I can get an answer.

jhale, did you make it down there today? i brought 5 numbers with me of calls i neeeded to make on the way and i forgot yours. I was on the look out for guys gettign tube but i didnt see anyone.

I bought some 12" diameter tubing and some smaller extruded pieces 1ft long. They had a ton of stuff left.

I tried gettin a deal on teh large cast tubing by taking a couple 6 footers but they wouldnt go under 50% off so i didnt take any. I forgot to ask if they were clening out everythign on a certain date but by the looks of things they have way too much to just dump. Its probably getting sold back to teh distributor or another plastic store.

All in all not bad. 50% off and i used my CC so i get another 1% cash back so id say i Fleaced um good. lol

Hey Wedfr, we missed you, I met up with Jose, Brett, and aaron, we just happened to be there all at the same time, 3:30.
Brett asked if they would make a deal if he took ALL the cast tube that was left, they said no. they must have someone else whose taking it. or they have a space they are moving to and they just wanted to sell off as much as possible so they don't have to move it. there's still a huge amount of stuff left. no way is it getting dumped. oh well. no last minute bargins.

nice seeing you guys there...jonathan i will not be able to make it back downtown for the laser show, traffic was crazy getting uptown. well, i guess the trip was worth it, i spent about $215 on acrylic i'm going to use to make my skimmer, some overflows and some weld on 4(my wife is going to kill me).

Jose, just tell her your really saving at least $1000 doing it yourself. you did not miss much. the laser sits in a grey metal box with buttons and lights on it.

That place was a madhouse! Nice to see everybody there! I only bought some stuff for some art projects I'll be working on. I passed on the tubing. I don't plan on having a tank big enough to need a huge skimmer, so I couldn't justify dropping $200 for fun. Ahhh well. It will still be fun to see what people come up with for DIY night. I did however get two 2 1/2" solid spheres to practice my contact juggling with! Half price = buy one get one free! (at $16 and change each.)

AHHHHH RIP Industrial Plastics.

i know, i really wasn't expecting a "show",lol.lets see what we make on the 30th, i think i'll try to make something like jdm130's skimmer on RC.i would be very happy with a project that resembled anything close to that.

I have to say it was fun and funny to stand in industrial plastics today discussing skimmer construction with my fellow reef geeks

what do you need, just the flat acrylic? I have a bunch of 3/8" opaque white stuff, it's in my shop on the island.

Damn i must have missed you guys by about 10 minutes. i left right aroudn 330, it would have been nice to meet you guys. Yeah i tried the same thing with teh big cast tubes. It was a big no go.

Funny i was in teh back and graabing some of that really thin rod and some chic goes hey what can you use this for? Im like, im making protein skimmers with it. She gave me a look so explained a little. She put the stuff back on teh shelf and walked away hahaha.

Am i the only one who bought some large diameter tubing?

Wedfr, i'm pretty sure I saw you down at industrial yesterday. there was a guy walking around with about 4 or 5 pieces of foot long lengths of tube walking around that had a bit of a reef tank look about him. Would have said something but i just wasnt sure.
