ACAN lighting users or even LED users

how far do you guys keep your LED lights off the water.right now my lights are 12" off the surface of water.i was thinking of goig 9" in..im doing so because i built a shelf in my 92 corner up high to put my calcium reaqctor and im a bit concerned it may be blocking some light.if i bring it down a little lower it would not be obstructing at all.shelf is as high as i could bring it.

i keep my diy cree led fixture 6" above water line.

Not sure what's in your tank as far as corals, I have mostly lps. I have 2 acan fixtures on a 90 gallon reef my fixtures are # 104 they are the mid range fixture I paid 495.00 each. I have the fixture 16" off the water but I also put a reflector on the back wall which helps the light alot. I have had the fixtures and the max I put them on is 85%. My tank is In a wall so I was able to get away with the reflector
