toadstool has a hole in it

When I woke up this morning I noticed that my toadstool had a small pencil point size hole in it. When I got home tonight, the hole had gotten bigger. Any idea what would be causing this and what I can do about it?

It may be "splitting" or making a baby...they do that when they are not happy (or so ive notice, may not be accurate)
