Ok I have another question(I have many)! I've heard that ph is different at different times of the day. I checked my PH this morning and it's dropped to somewhere between 7.8 and 8.0. I have a reef buffer but when I use it it also raises my Alkalinity too high. I checked alkalinity yesterday and it was at 11. How can I keep my Ph up to about 8.2 without raising my Alkalinity?

Use Kalkwasser.It only affects the PH.

I would say don't dose anything at the moment.

7.8 is on the lower side of things but it isn't terrible. You also said that you checked first thing in the morning. pH tends to go down overnight.

1) What is the air circulation like in your house? If you have poor circulation then it could be leading to CO2 buildup and lower pH.
2) Are you running any kind of refugium? Most people run theirs either 24/7 or on a reverse lighting cycle (opposite the lights in the display) in order to get the algae working and combat pH swings.

Air circulation probably isn't best, I have had the air condition on constantly so windows have been closed. I just opened them. I also just got a phosphate reactor that has GFO and carbon running in it so could that have changed the ph? I will wait till later and check the ph after the lights have been on for hours. I just get a bit nervous.I don't run a refigium, just a sump with LR.

GFO's lower the PH.You can slowly add the Kalkwasser at night as I too don't have a fuge and rely on buffering being my room is so stuffy even with the window opened.

What kind of skimmer are you using?

if it has a venturi, you can put a line on it to outside and get fresh air into the system that way.
