Got a Deep Blue 75g RR not the edgeless one. Im having a problem with the return not pushing water up fast enough. I have an ocean runner 2500 for a return pump which pushes 650 gph. I would assume thats enough. I shortened the return hose to help, tried a ball valve and that didnt work. Flipped the durso. Water level rose to bottom of the trim but it makes alot of noise. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. I was thinking of getting a barb insert reducer and reducining the line to slow down the flow coming into the sump. Thanks

Thats the problem. Its draining into the sump faster than its pumping it up. I have a return pump rated for 650 gph. Its pumping it up 3/4 line and coming into the sump from an 1 1/2 line. I need to slow down the water just enough so that the pump can equalize. Ball valve didnt work. Flipping the durso did work but is loud and doesnt skim properly. Sump has about 6 in worth of water and wont overflow.

you dont want to slow the water. That is asking for a flood. Fill your sump to the level you want it at. Then fill your tank to the point where the water just starts to drain into the sump. That is the correct volume of water. Now you can turn on your pump and the flow rates will now match. It sounds like you have too much water.

The issue I think is that the pump isn't strong enough to sustain the level in the tank. It holds it just enough water in the sump that the pump hold it. But if we add water to the system it doesnt have enough head pressure to push the added water up.

How many feet? Your pump is probably 650 gph at 0 feet. I run a 850 gph pump on my 75. Thats 850 gph at 0 feet and 0 Gph at 7 ft. So my pump to the top of the tank (about 48") is only giving me about 450 gph and I have no turns. Straight up. If you have any elbows that will reduce you pressure also. Check you litterature on the pump before you run out and buy a new pump.

I have 2 small bend but no turns. U have the edgeless DB 75 gallon. Correct? I have my overflow in the corner otherwise its would be a straight shot up for me. I might flip the sump which make it drain longer and further. It then shortens run up for the pump or might try putting a bead of silicone on top part of the gate to help.

Turning the sump sounds like a good start. Did you check your Pump specs? You may just have too small a pump. I first tried a 1200 gph but the water was circulating so fast that it sounded like I had the hose running in my living room. I went with the 850 gph because It gave me a nice smooth flow back into the tank without that rushing water sound back into the sump.

The pump is 650 gph at 0ft and 0gph at 10ft. Im at about 4 1/2 ft so im figuring its puttng 375gph - 400gph. Its def. the pump just trying to avoid buying a third. Im trying diffrent options to avoid a new pump
