it is a 24 gal i have the filter that comes with it in the back with extra bio in the back about 30 lbs live rock i use my hang on earth about once a month change 5 gal about 2 x a month all levels are are fine...

Just don't disturb the sand bed too much. Upgrade your Power heads and it should help your circulation issue.

You got beautiful BTA in your tank. Wow, I wish my BTA bubble up like you do. Anyway, I used red slime away thing in my tank once and it took care the problem with in next day. It didn't harm anything in my tank. Try that.

How old is that tank? You have a LOT of stuff in there for a newish setup, and that could be the problem.

Once your tank gets used to everything in there, it shouldn't be a problem.

Oh, and feed that brain some meaty food. It looks like it could use it.

BTW how long have u had the mandarin? have u managed to have it take prepared foods? and whats an earth filter? I would also up the flow as Jim said it helps alot

thanks the green bta i got in nj animals and things i thought it was a rose miss priced i got it for $24 with in a week it turned green i like it alot the mandarin i have had for about 2 months it eats stuff in the tank and loves when i put live brineshrimp in the tank the tank is about 8 months old. the earth filter is a System I Pressure Filter The System One is a positive pressure filter using Diatomaceous Earth as a filtering medium. This allows removal of particles, as small as one micron in size, even cleaning out bacteria harmful to fish. The System One has a positive pressure of 3psi and large flow capacity of 300gph.

System One is a maintenance filter and is designed to run approximately 4 hours at a time. After 4 hours, turn off the unit for approximately 45 minutes to allow the unit to cool. After the cooling period the unit is ready for use again.
