My skimmer was off for a day. I also medicated for cyno. According to the directions it said to turn off skimmer so I did.

I just turned it back on and now it is producing A TON of White foam. The liquid that is gathering is basically clear.

Even when it is running normally it is fairly clear. But the tube gets gunked up with green crud that I clean out when I empty the cup.

Please do not speak about how to properly control Cyno, I have read a ton about it, and decided to go with slime remover, which honestly I can see the difference already. I was not overwhelmed with the cyno, but had enough to just piss me of.

So.... Is it normal to pump out a large amount of white foam and clear skimmate???

I tried everything and finally used slime remover as well. Skimmer went crazy for a few days, but it's fine now. Just make sure you do huge water change after. Unfortunately it came back a bit, but steadily getting rid of it with big water changes and using phosban.

I am actually mixing up a 25% water change right now. I am also going to take out my frag rack and clean it off and try to siphon as much crap off the rocks as possible the problem is that with only 7 gallon change it is a little tough to get everywhere since not that much water to take out. I, right try to use a much smaller hose to siphon so that I can get into those little spots. Will update later!!!

The first time I used Red Slime Remover it worked but a year later when I needed it it didn't do much. But skimmer does get foamy with lots of water until it all clears out. Kathy has a thread about keeping lights off for a few days and that does work but it still comes back just not as bad. Now I keep lights off one day every 2 weeks and although I have a few spots that are stubborn it is manageable. In short, if you don't get rid of the cause it will keep coming back but it can be kept in check.
