Question about diatoms

Now the diatoms I'm talking about arent the ones you get when you first set up the tank. The variety I have are tiny gold-brown spots on the glass and rock and kill snails. What causes these outbreaks and how do I get rid of them?

Correction I meant I have dinoflagellates not diatoms.

Sure that they are Dinos?Those are golden with sort of like boogers coming from them.Pain to get rid of.I heard Peroxide kills them.At small dosages of course.Diatoms can be caused by mini cycles as well.Bacterial perhaps.
