Why did you say you 'put the fish back in' - was that a mistake or did you take any fish out when you added the new SW?

Can you tell us how low the salinity was that you needed to change it in this manner?
Please keep in mind that when you change the salinity - you are also changing the pH of the water (if the change is big enough). A rapid pH change will kill fish...

I have more questions, but need the answer to this one first :)

Changing the salinity from 1.018 to 1.025 is a big change and should have been done in smaller increments :( I will assume the pH also had a big swing. Did you happen to measure the pH before you added all of this new SW water (which had to be quite a bit to get the water in a 125g to change salinity from 1.018 to 1.025 !!)

I see you posted on 9/5 that your new skimmer (the first one you put on the tank I imagine) was making no bubbles. Is that still the case or did you get this fixed yet?
A skimmer helps add oxygen to a tank, without that making bubbles, I am sure you dissolved oxygen number is very low. Add that to the incredible overcrowding you have there (and I see you recently sold a panther grouper, a flounder and a niger trigger out of this tank...)

Also - you have been trying to buy a power head as recently as 9/11...do you have any on the tank at this time, if so what type and how many?

I also see you were trying to buy more rock last weekend. Did you find any and add it to the tank? Was it fully cured??

Can you please post a pic of this tank?

If you mean the display tank's Sg was 1.018 and after you added the new salt water to make the whole system to 1.025, the SG upswing(down swing is not the same though) alone can kill some fish already. This swing from 1.018 to 1.025 should dripped for, at least, over 24 hours.

i brought the salinity up to 1.022, i didnt measure the ph before. The skimmer i got it working the same night i posted that, someone walked me through it over the phone. I did purchase the power heads, i bought 2 koralias 1400 and one koralia 1050, and i didnt get to buy any more rocks, currently i have about 120 lbs, i also posted some more livestock for sale, i'm jus gonna start over again and make sure all my levels stay where they supposed to and then when its time i'll get the livestock, i just dont wanna become a fish serial killer, theres no need for them to suffer for my mistakes

you just let it sit then check the salinity..? i dont know how you can do that without a small powerhead for movement.if your salinity was 1.025 on the top of the new water i can only imagine what the bottom of the water was

Seriously. I think we all need to take a step back and breathe. I actually read through all the pages lol. These theories are just going to freak you out more and you won't think straight.

Please, as Kathy mentioned, take a picture of the tank and whatever fish are left. This is so we can rule out a few things. Also take pictures of your setup. I used a Berlin skimmer and it was on a 50 gallon and I thought it was crap. You may want to upgrade.

I don't think your tank being stocked to the gills is a HUGE issue (flame suit on) I've had 30 fish in my 72 and it ran VERY WELL till my father accidentally got wood floor cleaner in the sump.

For all we know the panicking may have done it a huge salinity swing with undissolved salt can do a lot of damage as mentioned above.

Anyway point is take a picture and let's take it from there. :)

I still say you can't possibly have a 0 nitrate reading with that stock list, I'm not saying that many fish can't be kept but I am saying they will raise the nitrate above 0 get some test kits and do some testing yourself, something is really wrong when you test a tank with that many fish and you come up with a 0 nitrate read.

how big is the and what kind of anemone? It seems to me like a combination of the tank being heavily stocked the addition of the anemone and the huge salinity swing (plus possible ph swing).
I would also looking into getting a good set of tests kits so you can test everything on your self and often so you know if they are any big swings in any of the lvls.

Good, sounds like you are moving in the right direction now! :)

Hoping you have lost no further fish?
We'd all love to have every type of fish we like but a large amount of fish with an inferior skimmer, and not enough water movement = not enough oxygen and that is a big issue. pH swings are the fastest way to kill a fish...unfortunately. So when it comes time to restock - be very thoughtful about it and do limit your list!

For now, do make sure at least one of the power heads is disturbing the surface of the water so that you have good oxygen exchange (that is important).

Having your own test kits will help keep you on top of your parameters, so that is a good suggestion as well.

Forgot to ask - are you using ro or rodi water? If you are using tap, are you using a dechlorinator in it?

Going forward - remember we are here 24/7 to answer any questions...always best to ask before you make any major changes to a tank if you are unsure about something! ;)
