Black sail fin blenny costs 300$

Well I'm an idiot and never bothered to look up details of the black sail fin blenny I bought! I really loved this fish that is until after 2 days in the tank I started to see my sps with damaged areas I thought the worst aefw alk issue etc. My wife says to me "it's proably the new fish" I spent hours today checking everything doing water change etc... Then right b4 bead I see the black sail fin chomp on and remove some tissue from one of my wet thumb frags! Spent last hour trying to catch him. He's damaged 3 of my prized frags from wet thumb I hope they recover.
Ended up he hid in a hole in a rock I put my finger over it and pulled the rock out he's in my sump hopefully petswharehouse house will take him back!
Btw if I didn't have sps this fish would be my fav

wow..I didn't know either that they munch SPS....I was going to get one also, but I have a red hawk that would have munched on it.

I have had blennies attach SPS as well as my scoly. Never again!!!

I have a black sailfin blenny from Dom and he has been a model citizen. I have a setosa frag, blue stag, and a brownish sps, along with some monti's. He has not bothered any of them. I'm not sure if I got lucky with mine or you got a bad apple. When I was thinking about buying this guy, everything I read said reef safe IIRC.

Hopefully your sps recover. My sailfin is defi my favorite fish.

How long have you had him? Mine was a model citizen as first as well.

Only had him 3 or 4 days I wouldn't have believed it my self if I didnt see it with own eyes! Not just on littel nip 3 chomps on 3 different frags within 5 min!
If u type in black sailfin nipping sps alot will come up !

I guess I won't know for 100% for a few days see how the corals do but I'm like 98% sure it was him! After he nipped at the frags that aera retracted and slimed up

I defi would have dumped him if he was nipping on my corals. I suppose it can be a crapshoot sometimes. I have been lucky. I am picking up a pygmy angel fro. Dom today. My first Pygmy angel died when my reef keeper temp controller screwed up. Hopefully this angel will be another good one. My first didn't nip nor did it fight.

Do you know which black sail fin you have? Dom reminded me that mine is a blue spotted black sail fin.

It has really cool pattern on his face called tribal blenny!
Gonna see if I can exchange him if not u can have him!
