So last night, i am sleeping (i am a light sleeper)and around 5am i hear my return pump, making a grinding noise (I have a small tank in my room.) Half asleep i check what's going on, I see the water level in the sump, is waaayyy low, so I completely wake up and try to figure out what's going. After disassembling the pipes, i discovered that one of my snails got inside the bulkhead in the drain hole and basically clogged my pipes. My top is not covered, I don't really have any jumpers, so I never covered it and somehow she made her way there. So moral of the story, COVER YOUR TANK.

I prefer something similar to this. If a snail went on it, it would only block a small area of the water.

I was gonna reply that the cover, would probably cause a similar issue, but with something like that, would probably work. FIsh store has them or home depot? Honestly the snail had to get out of the water and then go down about 10 inch in the hole, it didn't get sucked, it was attached in there. Thats more the reason why i want to cover.
