I know we all spent a lot of money, but how much enjoyment and fun did you receive in return. There was also a lot of fustration, but we would blow our money on something else anyway!!

i know guys that spend a ton of money in bars and they are not home to enjoy there family.at least im home with the family enjoying my reef.plus my kids like it.

If you ever really stop and try to do the math of every penny you've ever spent on this hobby you'll probably have a FS thread on this site by next week I try not to think about it. As long as I'm entertained and I enjoy the wonders of the ocean inside my house I'm fine with whatever I spent. Heck I'm sure whatever the sum is it's still nothing compared to what a junkie spends a month on whatever habit he has and at least this hobby won't kill me.

People say to me all the time how much do u think u have invested in ur tank .to me its worth all the money I've invested in it when I get home from work i cant wait to look at it .kindda sick but I guess its better than going to a bar everyday after work or buying a bag .its theropy for me get my mind of **** and keeps me sain lol

I think about it as well, being in college and jobless right now, spending money makes me think twice before I buy something. I have the same passion as others have expressed in the thread. Money has to be spent, why not spend it on something that makes you relax and eases your mind. People who first look at the tank, the thing they ask how much have you spent?; of course I can say $5k but my answer is, enough to keep me sane and enjoying it.

Sure would be nice to have all that dough in my hand but doubt if I never got into hobby I would have that money saved proably just spent on something else ! My tank proably has 5k give or take invested and 5k is not gonna make or break me and As a grownup now my tank is my fun time it's my escape from stress, worries and it makes me happy !! Something that keeps stress down and makes u happy is worth the $ IMO
