Sometimes reef safe is a funny phrase. The dragon wrasse will not eat your corals but will feast on snails, crabs, shrimp and any other small critter. He will dive into your sandbed looking for food and all the sand that kicks up will bother your corals. Lastly he will pick up any coral, rock or frag that he can carry and re-arrange your tank, free of charge. So he may not kill your corals directly but in the end I wouldn't put him in a coral reef

not to mention a dragon will grow to about 10" and be a terror....for a reef I recommend fairy, flashers, leopards, also some Halichoeres species like the yellow, hoeven's and Richmond's...also a sixline, but this is the most aggressive of this bunch.

In the tanks you saw these - were they juveniles or adults? Many of the habits that make them not reef safe tend to really kick in when they are adult sized, and no where near as attractive a fish as they are when they are a juvi's (IMO)

I would also not suggest them if you have any clams as they can be a target simply as something for the wrasse to 'roll around' to see if anything tasty is hiding beneath.

A 90 g tank (that's your tank size - yes?) is also on the small side for what there require...a 125 minimum.

I recently gave this guy away. They grow fast and will carry corals to the back of the tank but the main problem I have with them is their digging. Almost my entire reef was slowly pushed to the front glass by his digging. They will also eat anything small
