Awibrandy--- I thought that the trAtes being at 5 would have been o.k. to add a snail...but on a positive note 
, I just finished my weekly tank maintenance and my snail stuck his little antennas out and moved around a little!! So hopefully he will be o.k... my kids love him already because he is the first snail we've had since Sept/Oct when my 7 snails died...Do you have any snails in your tank now?
Jzhou--- I've always used RO/DI water since day 1, but have only been using GFO/GAC since the late summer/fall...
I think I will keep my W/C's at 20 gallons a week and scrub my rocks and try to beat the rotten GHA that way...it will give me a chance to reaquascape a little too..I think my tank def needs that for better flow all around...
