mad at THE PROTEIN SKIMMER!!

I have the reef octupus xp 2000 sss and i thought at first it was a beast but now it is just so sensitive and tough to regulate. It constantly has microbubbles etc it skims decently but i don't know what to do! i have invested a lot into it and i don't know if it was worth it. It is sitting in a bout 6-3/4 inches of water.

any advice including a skimmer thats a beast and not sensitive to and shoots out microbbubbles would be great. I would need the footprint to be small like the the super sump saver

i am now loving my vertex in 180.at first i hated it.it it was so hard to break it in ...now this this is skimming like a mad man.for the price i paid and the customer service i love it

Those skimmers should be in 5.75" not 6.75". How long have you had it? Have you adjusted the gate valve at all?

I like my Bermuda Aquatics 3C. It's been nothing but a great skimmer since the day I bought it.

i have had it for a bout 2months .... i do adjust it but its just soo damn sensitive!!

they are decent skimmers but way too sensitive too feedings or hand in the water, and takes awhile for them to level back out, as for adjusting a skimmer only make a very small adjustment every other day this way it has time to settle into that position before making the adjustment again, oh and did i mention i love my vertex alpha 200

the best balanced alpha is the 200, loce being able to take it comepletely apart, the red dragon pump is dead silent and low wattage usuage, thing is built solid, i had the skimz sm202 recirc, probably close tie between it and the alpha, except the skimz was way to much skimmer for my tank. the alpha probably will end up being also, what size tank do you have, whats the footprint and height available under the stand and in the sump how stocked is your tank ? and with what fish and corals, any carbon dosing ? sump water level height where skimmer will sit. having the proper height of water can make a major differance in how a skimmer works also. i am not a fan of their outlets on the internal models of the octo line.

hey, i have a 120 gallon tank, 48x24x24 with a standard tank stand probably 32" inches tall my sump is the trigger systems and the skimmer section is....

Dimensions: 36" long x 18" wide x 15" high
Drain/Skimmer Section: 17.5" x 12.5"

i have a pretty heavily stocked tank.. i just want something that isnt too sensitive and is reliable... and not to many micro bubbles! I go away to college so osmething my dad doesn't have to constantly play around with!!

not to many people have the triggers and they are decent from what ive read, personally id get the atb 840 v2, which will be my next skimmer also, excellent customer service and that skimmer is probably the best balanced skimmer out there

i do like the trigger systems also, im interested in the atb what do you know about it how big of a tank would it work on and would those dimensions fit in that sump.

I wonder if there is a return policy considering i've only had this one for barely 2 months
