How do u keep it at exactly 78 ? I use a rancho controller for my heaters but still get 3 degree fluctuation ?

Mine is dead on 79.5 all day and all night! I switched out MH to LED and my chiller has not come on since, and had to add a heater. I have a Reefkeeper lite and 1800w of heaters for a 325 gal tank. Heaters are located in the last chamber of the sump.

I try to keep mine at 78.5 (most efficient temperature in my apt) but in the summer time it's impossible for me to go lower than 80.5

I keep my tank at 78. I don't see why you ruled out higher temperatures though, because many of the reefs in this world can get a solid amount warmer than that.
