i dont know whats going on...

about 5 days ago my GSP would not open. i thought well... i know many people have said this just happens with GSP and give it time, so 3 days ago i did a good size water change. everything looked great the next day. yesterday, everything looked fine as well. today, both my bubble tips are closed completely (clowns are PISSED), my yellow polyps, GSP, and few paly frags are 45% closed. all my water pars seem to be fine, nothing different. i noticed my phosphates were a little lower then usual, but everything else looked fine. temp is ok, salinity is fine, nothing different is going on. what should i be looking for here? im so confused and getting fustrated. i have my RODI water next to my tank ready for another water change, but what could be going on?

corals that look fine are my 3 clams, leather frags, random payls and zoas, chalice, blastos, plates. and my shrimp and fish seem normal, except clowns are going NUTS.

any sugguestions on what the heck to do?:supermad:

I don't really have an answer as to what to do, just don't do anything rash. Unless you are seeing anything really worrying (ie, lots of slime, tissue recession, bleaching) I would probably sit tight for a few more days. If you feel a pressing need to just do something/anything, well a water change never hurts.

Last bit of advice, if you think you might have some contamination like a canopy screw that fell into the tank, you can run a polyfilter for a few days and see what color it turns.

im just confused why certain corals look like crap, and some look great? i just snapped a few pics. the main reason i noticed is like i said, my anemones, they ususally both open up about 6-8 inches across. BOTH are closed completely....?

Something like that happened to me then i started seeing algae blooming out of no where. Are you starting to see algae??

I changed my RODI filters and now its starting too look alot better. Everything is starting to open up as normal.

Did you add anything to the tank with the water, ie additives like kalk, cal, alk, mag? They may be stressed due to quick water chemistry change.

i been battleing a slight cyno issue for a little while. but it was only on a frag rack with low flow. today i looked at my rocks and my GSP was completely clean yesterday and now today it has a light coat. and i notice 3 rocks with some light red coat. id do my bag trick and cover the tank for cyno, but i have 3 clams now and they wont like that...

Look for Zoa Nudibranch:supermad:, I had this happen to me they are tiny and colorful just like the zoas they eat... i should add that its very hard to spot them. look down at the bases inbetween polyps.

Could also be those little pest starfish Asterinas. They only come out at night to feed.

Hey Ryan,

Nothing looks really bad from the pics you sent. I know it's tough to do, but maybe sit tight for a few days before really messing with anything. Test for what you can (or whatever kits you have on hand) make sure all the major parameters are close to where they should be, and just sit back and hope for the best?

There might be some chemical warfare going on also. Fresh carbon or chemipure might help...
