i need to get a protein skimmer for my 30g tank and need recommendations from u guys. i did a search and so far i think i might get the AquaC remora hang on with the maxijet 1200 ($164 from marinedepot.com). is this skimmer any good or are there better ones out there for the money for my size tank. thanks a lot in advance.

I'd go with daily water changes in lieu of a seaclown. Try the Coralife Super Skimmer 65 or 125. I have the 65 and I love it (after the mods I did).

agree with russ... thats alot of water changes a month/year.. wow... hehe coralife is also a good HOB skimmer...

sounds like coralife it is plus it's cheaper than the remora. just curious..what are some of these mods you have on the coralife super skimmer??

I used a Prism on my 29 and still use it on the 55 gal. TOny has one for sale cheap enough so you can save.

I just got a Remora for my 33 G long. They offered to custom build it to my short tank at no charge. I have used the remora pro on a 90G and it works great. Make sure you get the overflow box as it helps remove more gunk.

Remora C is a good choice. Easy to set up and maintain. Haven't priced them lately, but for a 30, a BakPak is also a good choice. When I first started, I got a Seaclone, but never saw any foam and soon upgraded to BakPak and then to Remora.
