A friend and I are setting up his nanocube 28. This question is regarding a skimmer for it. I was telling him to remove the media basket and place a Tunze 9002 skimmer in the middle chamber, completely remove the media basket and to just hang a chemipure bag in one of the chambers. He would like to keep the basket because it comes with 3 compartments and wants to put a fuge in the center compartment, chemipur in the bottom and a sponge filter in the top and keep the crappy skimmer it comes with.
Can you guys give some advise as to which set up would work better or maybe have a better set up idea. I'm sure this debate has been talked about already. Btw, he wants a sps dominated tank with a few little fishes.
This link might give you guys a better idea how the tank compartments are set up.

if he decides he still wants a skimmer but wants a media rack as well--tell him to upgrade the meia rack it comes with cause it sucks--and get himself a aquamaxx hob-1 skimmer.. it has great reviews and fits in the oringinal skimmer chamber in the back. it also does not affect opening the hood

The thing is he has a brand new tunze 9002 skimmer sitting in his closet. How bout this. He can use it in the middle chamber, we custom build 2 baskets on both sides of the skimmer( so that would be chamber 2 and 4) one for chemicals and the other for a little fuge out of egg-crates. He really wants a fuge.

I have a 24 gal nano. I run a stevie t media rack in chamber one, with bags of carbon and purigen. On top of the rack i have filter floss, the really cheap stuff and i change it everyday or every other day. In chamber two i have tunze 9002 skimmer with stevie t collection cup. 3rd chamber is a rio 1600 plus. I suggest upgrading return pump if you going to keep sps. In the tank i have 3 koralia nanos. One in each front upper corner, and another middle tank hieght across the back. Google Stevie T and some of the products he makes. Very helpful.

Chamber 1 is usually the overflow chamber, so that is where you get your flow from (into sump)?? I am not really sure about that set up, but you want your flow going through your carbon and your fuge.

The 24 is different. The 28 has 5 chambers. 1 and 5 is the return pumps. The middle is the larger one where you have the basket or you can fit the tunze 9002 skimmer, of course the magnet needs to be cut off. The 2 and 4 I suppose is good for a heater or droppung some medias in or something else. That is where we were thinking to make a small basket for a fuge. Any thoughts?

Ha! You know I never realized that Mine has 5 chambers! I have the 28 also. I guess I numbered them wrong. I have (when looking at tank starting from left)
1. Return Pump (on wavemaker) and Remora Skimmer
2. Bag of Phostphate Sponge
3. Media Basket (upgrade) Filter Floss / Chaeto / Chemipure
4. Heater
5. Return Pump (on wavemaker)
