Okay fellow reefers lets see how creative you all are.
After reading a couple of articles I learned that the protein skimmer is ill named.
There are barely any proteins in the ocean, and zero in our tanks. How someone decided on using protein for naming skimmers I dod not know. What we do know is that skimmers remove DOC's dissolved organic compounds.
Using the doc's as a starting point I came up with the acronym
d.o.c.t.o.r
The problem is I don't have a great word for the second O, with Shaun's help this is what I have so far,
Dissolved Organic Compound Total Obliteration Remover
The R could also stand for Removal, depending on the word proceeding it.
For all you DIY's I wanted to use this new name for the skimmers we are making. I'm going to make little plaques with the manhattan reef logo I made and the name inside the shell.
You can also have a personalized plaque as well, like
Jose's D.O.C.T.O.R,
so any great ideas, let me know!
