Okay fellow reefers lets see how creative you all are.
After reading a couple of articles I learned that the protein skimmer is ill named.
There are barely any proteins in the ocean, and zero in our tanks. How someone decided on using protein for naming skimmers I dod not know. What we do know is that skimmers remove DOC's dissolved organic compounds.
Using the doc's as a starting point I came up with the acronym
d.o.c.t.o.r
The problem is I don't have a great word for the second O, with Shaun's help this is what I have so far,
Dissolved Organic Compound Total Obliteration Remover
The R could also stand for Removal, depending on the word proceeding it.
For all you DIY's I wanted to use this new name for the skimmers we are making. I'm going to make little plaques with the manhattan reef logo I made and the name inside the shell.
You can also have a personalized plaque as well, like
Jose's D.O.C.T.O.R,

so any great ideas, let me know!

no the person who named it the protein skimmer was weird.
it's like naming the dishwasher the golfclub washer.
besides I'm only going to make 6 skimmers a day, and subcontract you to make the wetnecks ;)

I think you'd have to change that to the NPGO to be safe.
P being Poop.

how about the MRPR

manhatan reef poop remover

not as techinical as the d.o.c.t.o.r, but still sounds official.

That's funny Kris!! LOL

Maybe we should have a poll -
Would you like to be able to:
1. Curse.
2. Curse like a drunken sailor.
3. Curse so bad that your mother needs to clean your mouth out with soap!!
4. Never use such bad language in such a clean place (skimmer verified) as MR.

so far Kris you win for being creative.
I'd have to choose #4
I'm all for cursing, but not on manhattan reefs.
it's a tough call though, what's a curse and what's not.
I would stop at saying **** and worse things. that's just me.

Woo hoo, I finally won something.
What do you guys classify as a curse? I remember back in my younger days a word i got punished for was calling my sister stupid or something really small like that. I guess the site would be better off without the cursing. But it's not bad at all right now. If its how you communicate in person why not on the site, just keep the F's, B's and those other not so neccesary ones out and its good.

Don't want the father to be reading on the site and come across something crazy now. ;)
