Well today I finally got around to getting the wood for my canopy(got the mother to buy me some) and I was wondering what would be a good color and type of paint to use? I was thinking maybe a black color to match the trim and stand I have. I'm still unsure about the type of paint.

What I forgot to say was that even though I did buy the wood I forgot to buy the L clamps and screws to put it all together.(Yes, I'm just that smart...heh...) Will post pics of progress. Just let me know what type of paint to use.

Thanks in advance

If the wood is smooth i would just spray paint it, other wise what about a wood stain? Black would proly be the best since it matches your stand and your trip

I would go with black oil based enamel outside (match either flat, semigloss or gloss to your stand), and flat white inside.

If you're lazy like me, you can just put the brush in the freezer between coats. That way you don't haev to clean the brush over and over.

Thanks BC, I just got the frame done and I'm please for once with the work I did. Guess taking your time helps things turn out better. Just have to cut and attach the plywood and its done. I was about to post pics but my camera died, so I'll have pics of the finished product later.

Dont use spray paint, it will look like crap.
I would undercoat it with an oil based primer (2 coats) sand between coats then two coats of oil based semi gloss in whatever color you want.
Sanding between coats is really important, You could use some 80 grit to sand the primer coat then give it a sand with 120 or 200 grit before you put your final coat on. A good thing to remember is that paint will never even out a surface, if its rough to start with and you dont sand it smooth it will always be rough.
