i think it's a winter product.i got a 50 lb bag at HD for $13.i can give you 1/2 bag of dowflake, it should last us until we can get some more. i think people usually order pickling lime online from mrs.wadges.want to start a buy for the pickling lime??
I followed the do it yourself instructions on the dowflake and baking soda and had a mad outbreak in cyano - most of the dowflake has water as an ingredient and think it's not that clean :-(
Just my observation - I have stopped using the dowflake for now but will probably pick it up again in the Winter - also, the baking soda solution bever seems to dissolve completely and is never as strong as what I get from ESV (B-Ionic)
I try the Dowflake and my corals didn't react that well. It's very strong, alot stronger than Turbo-Cal, and sent my cal really high. I also had an algae outbreak, just like House.
For the amount I have spent on my tank I've decided it's better to use the B-Ionic.
I buy ESV at New world beleive it or not. $19.99 for the 2 part 32.0z. I have a relativly small tank so that amount last some I think Im getting the Gallon sizes this time around perhaps an E store Unless I go out to Brooklyn.
Where is the B-ionic store in Brooklyn. I want to start dosing my tank with it. Even if its just a little cheaper it should be worth it. I have a 30g how long do you think the gallon size should last me?
Question on how long it last really depend on how much your coral is taking in the calcium. If you have alot of sps, that is full grown and using calcium like crazy... it will last shorter..
i agree with the dowflake being much stronger....after dosing it a few times i haven't been able to read my calcium level with the salifert test kit (calcium is too high).i haven't noticed any ill effects on the sps in my tank though.i guess it has stayed that high because i mainly have frags, alot of them but still frags mostly.i even think i'm testing wrong sometimes.
ESV the manufactuer of B ionic is located in the Greenpoint/Williamsburg area. The folks over there prefer that you give them a call before you drop by.
