I am thinking about getting 6 stage ro/di filter. Where did you guys buy it from? I saw few items from ebay, I think I am going to get it from there. Anyway, can you drink water from ro/di filtered water? Are they too pure for human to drink or is it just fine? Thanks.

correct me if i am wrong, from what i saw on other threads, the RO filter is for drinking, the DI is for aquarium use, I think DI is too pure for the human body, you will get sick if you drink it.

chasesng, i got the same ro/di like urs, but somehow the flow is very slow, can u tell me how did u hook it up? thanks

btw...the flow is supposed to be slow, relative to a faucet anyway. i seem to recall that my unit makes 5 gals every 3 hours or so. i try to make note of timing but always forget what i was supposed to remember.

anyway, what i watch more closely is the ratio of waste water to filtered water. i'm usually around 3:1 which i'm pretty pleased with.

There is no such thing as water too pure to drink.
I also have a AquaSafe unit its hooked up so RO + carbon goes into the holding tank then through the faucet for the family.

Then with a Tee and a ball valve i bought from Home Depot i shut off the holding tank, turn on the ball valve and fill up buckets of RO/DI - carbon for the reef.

RO/DI water can NOT hurt you it tastes like **** But keep in mind old DI filters contain microorganisms that can harm you.

question for ppl with aquasafe systems. what's the last stage of the filter? do you use it for the tank? some ppl told me to skip the last stage. so it's 3 stages on the bottom with 2 on top, the membrane and di(?). thanks

I have my RO output split, one goes to the DI filter for the tank,
the other goes through a carbon filter, like fry mentioned, for my drinking water.
