At the point where I lost my patience. I can't seem to catch my Melanarus. He dives right into the sand. Last night I had almost all my rock and water out, no luck feeling thru the sand.
I've had the soda bottle trap in there for 2 days with food, stays clear of it.
Thought the fish had ich, but looks more like velvet. The wrasse looks clean but my other fish are sick and in a qt. Lost 2 already, only seen spots for a week.

Any ideas on catching this fish?

A trap with a door, preferably with a string so you can drop door at will...then put a piece of LR in the trap...must be a piece that was not in the same tank as wrasse (ie from your sump).

You may need to leave trap in tank (opened) for a dew days to let fish acclimate to new environment and not fear the trap.

Wrasses love to pick at rock, so, giving him a new rock to pick at will be very enticeing, especially when it is full of life (ie pods)

Why are you trying to catch it, if it is to move the wrasse so it doesn't get sick I would leave him alone. Wrasse's seem to be pretty resistant to most diseases and parasites. The other thing that you are doing by moving all the rock and trying to catch any fish is just stressing out all the fish, making them susceptible to all disease by lowering their resistance .

Got him first shot, #18 fly hook. Never pull rock or use a net again.
