I just looked at them, and they seem almost identical. They are probably the same body just different features as you stated. I never use the screen when I take pictures with an SLR, always use standard viewfinder.

Google "Compare Canon Cameras" and you will get a listing on Canon's site which will compare them side by side.

Or I would goto a Camera Store (not best buy) and ask there.

Not a camera expert at all, but just bought a nikon D3100 which also came with a 18-55 and 55-200 lenses and i couldnt be happier. Still need to get a true macro lense but for under 1k i thought it was a pretty good deal.

I have also been looking at the T3. These are the differences:
  • Native wireless control of off-camera flash (T2i requires accessory Canon ST-E2 module)
  • Digital zoom for 1080p video, while recording. (Since 1080p video is only 2 megapixels, this can crop down to the center of the sensor, effectively providing a 3x ? 10x zoom)
  • Cropping mats for shooting in different aspect ratios
  • ?Video Snapshots?, which are short video clips assembled in-camera into an extended video.
  • In-Camera Guide, which provides information on the LCD panel that makes choosing alternative settings a little easier for beginners
  • An image-database driven full-auto mode (A+) and some additional in-camera processing options, the ?Creative Filters?.
