skimmer going nuts...

i have a reef octo 160 on a 90g tank. at moment one fish, bunch of inverts and mixed corals - mostly zoas. i used a little bit of epoxy (aquastix) last week to keep some frags from getting knocked over

since then the skimmer has been producing crazy amounts of white foam...i read an older thread that suggested to shut down skimmer for a little bit due to epoxy use: its been a few days and i had to shut skimmer down again as the foam is so thick its lifting the top of the collection cup up and id dont want it to fall into sump.

any ideas? as always tia

From what i read certain epoxies will do this, I don't know if this would help but doing a water change might get most of the contaminants out.

Happened to me after a Chemiclean treatment. I just let the skimmer run its course and kept emptying the collection cup into a bucket. Mixed new water and replenish after skimmer returned to normal.

ok, i didnt do wc yet, i have a hose running from collection cup to a bucket but its literally lifting top off and bubbling over sides.... let that run its course?

widdy about how long until yours returned to normal ouput?

Mine pulled out about 3-4 gallons before it returned back to normal.

I would just remove the top and let it overflow, eventually it will stop and tehn just clean the collection cup and body of skimmer

ill give it a shot after kids go to sleep, "on duty", this weekend

Oh and make sure you have it set wide open!

That was one thing I hated about my old skimmer, if you looked at it wrong it would overflow
