I just ordered 2 of them for my new setup. You need to buy the controller separate, unless you plan to use a different controller.

If you do not buy a kit, then you will need to also buy the wires to connect the controller to 1 light and then another wire to connect the 1st light to the second light.

They sell a data wire, i opted for 2 12' wires since I will be making a custom mount for the lights.

You don't need the controller but it's helpful unless you have an RKL or Apex. They will always be on at 100% without one.

you absolutely need a controller. You will bleach everything in your tank at 100%. Any controller will do.

Before you purchase anything. You should decide whether you would prefer to control your LED's from your Apex/Reefkeeeper controller or if you want to have a separate controller for your LED's.
IMO there are Pro's and Con's to each way. I personally just bought the AI controller and am very happy with it.

I just switch my self you deff have to get the controller for it. Unless u r going to get a apex or a reefkeeper elite.
