Recently I noticed that there is salt at my bottom trim everytime I get home. A possible sign of a leak or a crack where I can't see it. No leaks from what I can tell or see any water anywhere but I don't want it to get that far.

I can't see through black trim so anyone ever notice this?

I have a Marineland 45 cube and I don't mind upgrading if necessary.

Let me know what you think and I'll take a picture tomorrow to show what I mean as far as where the salt is showing up.

If it is at the bottom trim only, then you probably have a leak somewhere. It may be just the lowest point where the water is settling. But if you see salt on the bottom of the tank, that is a recipe for disaster! I would get it fixed or get a new tank!

Yeah. I was thinking it was from the previous disaster but it wasn't going away after this long so I think it's a crack or slight leak so I'll be upgrading shortly.

it's actually all over the bottom trim. NO STREAKS. no water splash as no streaks or wet marks on the top trim.

I just spotted water within the trim looking from one side of the tank towards the trim and if I push it can see water in between. I tried soaking it up with a paper towel but not much difference atleast from what I can tell.

I have noticed water going over the to of my tank if the display has too high of a water line. It actually doesn't go over the trim, it goes between the trim and the glass on top. Not sure that is happening here though. If you are seeing all around the bottom trim, ut sounds like a leak. Have you checked your bulk heads? If they are not right enough, they can leak too.

I've had tyhe same thing happen, it was from water dripping down the tank. I didnt have any leaks. Wipe it away and check it in the morning. If you see salt creep in the morning you got a leak.

I didn't check my bulkheads. good idea. It is hard to get back there so I really haven't checked that area. I'll go check when i go home for lunch! thanks guys!!! My water level is about 1 1/2"-2" below the top rim.

It flows pretty low on the teeth of my overflow and not high in my overflow. I personally like slow flow through my fuge so I estimate only 200-300gph.
