Hey I just ordered 6 cuttlefish eggs. Couple of questions for you guys. Does anyone know if they have special requirements? What would be the best tank setup?
I was thinking of using a 30 gallon and making it like an eel grass bed with an aquaclear 300 on one side and sucking from the opposite. Not sure yet making it tomorrow. The tank is just for the cuttlefish. Any suggestions feel free. Thanks for any input.

It's after 11pm on the east coast. Whereever in the USA you ordered them from will have to ship tomorrow at the earliest. You still have time to cancel this order. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuttlefish

Here is a link i found in afew mins of reseaching .I copied and out lined a few things you need to know ,and the link above as well ,Good luck

Cuttlefish have ink, like squid and octopuses. This ink was formerly an important dye, called sepia. Today artificial dyes have replaced natural sepia. Cuttlefish are caught for food, though squid is more popular

Cuttlefish eat small molluscs, crabs, shrimp, fish and other cuttlefish. Their predators are sharks, fish, and other cuttlefish. They live about 1 to 2 years.
Like octopuses, cuttlefish have been successfully raised as pets in home aquariums, even though they demand intensive attention to maintenance. In particular, cuttlefish need a minimum amount of sea water in proportion to their body size, their tank needs to be cleaned every time they ink, they cannot tolerate abrupt changes in light levels, and they cannot coexist with other animals, and rarely ever with other cuttlefish. All other animals of comparable or smaller size, including other cuttlefish, are instinctively seen as food.Yummy ,lol

I am not the kind of person to get things and have them die. That not only sucks for the animal. It feels like im failing at caring for the animal. Belive me I have to many pets and tanks and the such to get these guys without knowing how to care for them. Thanks for the input. I think they arrive tomorrow or thurs. I'll keep everyone updated.

when i wanted a cuttlefish i read somewhere they best way to start off the eggs and babies is to keep them in a net breeder for abit so you know where they are. And its easier to feed them as well in the net.

Hi Dan,
Glad it's under control. If you re-read your first post maybe you can understand how everyone might have misinterpreted what you asked. Noone here meant to flame. It was just in response to your initial post.

Good luck and post those pix. Cuttlefish are extremely interesting and I'd love to see your setup.
