It's the most evil coral. Give it two months when it takes over the entire nano then say its awesome. Once you have it, you can never get rid of it.

Unless you're going for a xenia forest. Then its pretty awesome.

He he..i know the infamous Xenia can grow like weeds in a tank. But you know what, for a nano, with nothing else in there, I don't think it would look that bad. I wouldn't mind growing all over, I don't really have much in there, except a few zoa's polyps..Things that I fragged from my main tank. My coworker that that stop by, they are soo amazed by it, they think is the water flow that makes them pulsate..lol..

Pulsing xenia is so unique. It sure grows quickly, but there's an easy way to control it's growth. Place a lonely rock with xenia on it in one of the front corners of the tank. That way, when it grows it attaches itself to the glass and it's easy to frag.

Hey smoq that's a great idea, so far it's manageable, so i am not worried. But if it does get out of control and it's on the glass, it will be easy to keep under control. By the way the coras you gave me, they are doing great.

It works wonders for me:) And if somebody comes and wants some xenias, I simply scrape it from the glass without hurting it:) I'm glad the frags are doing good, I have some more freebies if you would like to grab something.

hey smoq thanks for the free wallpaper that you offered the other day, i have it on my work computer it looks awesome, great picture. As much as I love freebies (who doesnt the best part of buying from fellow hobbyist)my tank has limited space (just like every apt in nyc)and I want to wait for my first frag swap on the 4th. But thanks for the offer..

A 40 gal hex tank with all of the rockwork and about 2/3 of the glass completely covered in fast-pulsing Xenia (if I recall, there was also a small frogspawn in the tank, but that was it for corals) at my LFS was a major reason I got into this hobby 10 yrs ago. It was and still is one of the most incredible displays I've ever seen. Xenia is a pain if it starts growing places you don't want it to, but if you're careful with placement and just have it growing where you want it to grow, it has got to be one of the most spectacular critters we can keep in aquaria.
