Here's the story in brief.. I have been keeping my 90 as a FOWLR for a while. However, I'm slowly converting it over to a full reef. (Mostly Zoas and some LPS/Acans).

My current light is a 4 bulb Tek. How's this going to work for the above corals? I think it will be sufficient as my rock is essentially 2x islands in the center (front to back) of the tank and there won't be too many corals on the sand bed.. Of course I'll buy brand new ATI bulbs. In the future, I'll probably end up adding an LED strip (Reefbrite/similar) but not for a few months.

Your thoughts/confirmations? I would just run out and buy a stronger fixture/one with more bulbs, but I'd rather not spend the money at this point.

Thanks.

If you were interested in running a second fixture... you can use one for all daylight and one for actinics... that way you may save yourself a headache of trying to sell... and save a little for buying a 2 bulb fixture.

Grab the Reefbrite in the f/s section. That and 4 bulb should be plenty for lps and softies. Maybe try sps up top.
If u pick 4 good par bulbs u should be fine.

I have a 6 bulb on my 75 and started bleaching stuff on my sand bed that was fine under a 250mh
The Reefbrite I just picked up cuts right thru my 6 bulbs..

I have been reading about the Reefbrite and the Vertex Illumilux lighting. It'd be nice to buy one at a time until I have enough (probably 3 reefbrites or 2 of the vertex lights).

with 4 bulbs, try 3 Blue Plus bulbs and a GE6500k. If you can, upgrade to a 6bulb ATI fixture and add another Blue Plus and an Purple Plus.

I've heard the GE65000 can add too much yellow and even wash colors out a bit with only 4 bulbs.

I'd love to pick up an ATI, but theyre $$$ and a six bulb unit would make it difficult to place corals, especially because I want to keep zoas and LPS mostly.
