Anemone disaster

Newbie with an anemone is not a good idea. I purchased it about 10 days ago and everything was fine. I woke up this morning and the anemone was stuck in my external overflow box in 2 larger pieces and a some small pieces. I cleaned the overlfow the best that I can. My questions is since the anemone died overnight will it contaminate my water. I checked my water paramters and it's fine. I'm just worried about my fish and corals. Should I do a water change?

I would do a water change, since you don't know how much it polluted the system.

Yes, do a water change & get some fresh carbon running in the system.
If you have a filter sock, I would change it.

oh it'll be fine... anemones get sucked up by powerheads all the time in the ocean... :p

yes do a WC. Add carbon... rinse out your filter material...

Had a friend go through the same thing , and it was super disastrous , you did good and may have avoided the nuclear fallout that usually follows the anemone death ..good job and congrats .

Just keep that carbon goin , are you using a reactor for the carbon?

No reactor yet. I'm looking into now. I have 2 bags of Chemi Pure Elite in the sump in a high flow area.

Oh ok chemi pure works wonders , and also dont forget to cheange the sump sock a bit more often now since this happened , and reactors are fairly cheap and easy to use check out the units on bulk reef supply , i have a set and i love them greatly for my crystal clear water .

Yes, Chemi pure is great. My skimmer is on full blast. It's a reef octopus
