my swc 150 bmk just broke in and was working great for like 4 days pulling some nice gunk. i added a new snowflake eel and the skimmer stopped pulling stuff. does a skimmer need to re adjust when new livestock is added? also when i empty my skimmer cup am i suppose to be cleaning out the gunk on the inside of the skimmer cup as well? or just inside where all the stuff gets collected

I would say take a look at it a couple of times a week and adjust it accordingly. Make sure the foam is just about going over the top. When you clean it out make sure you clean the neck as well. That will keep the performance good.

Clean everything the neck the tube that goes up and the inside cup where the gunk is stored. Additionally I take the skimmer out every few months and clean the body and pump as well, you very well might have some stuff clogging the pump feeding your skimmer. Do a complete skimmer cleaning take the pump apart and clean it all out put back together and give it another try.

ok the skimmer is only a week old and i checked the input where the pump sucks the water in and theirs nothing obstructing it. so i think i am going to just give it some time i put my hands in the water earlier i think that might of been why the bubbles fell back down ill just give it some time but thanks for the tips guys appreciate it.

Some skimmers are really sensative if you put your hands in the water they stop working for a hour or so, give it time if it's new it's prob not even "broken in" yet.
