Last night I was tinkering with my MP40. I was placing it on a different section on the tank.

I woke up this morning only to find that the MP40 fell to the bottom of the tank an blew my 4 inch sand bed all over the place. I should have taken a picture but I already leveled the sand, and placed the MP40 back on the glass. My filter socks are spilling over and my fuge is filled with sand.

Has this happened to anyone? Thanks.

gonna head back down to the basement to change the filter socks and clean out the skimmer.

How did the MP40 fall and not stop spinning? Or did the whole thing slide down the tank? Are you using the rubber gasket? Also did you use the little sticky things to cable tie the wire to the side of the tank??

The dry and wet side slid down together. Yes I's using the rubber gasket. Last night I was fooling around with it and when I attempted to put it back in place, the sticky squares that come with the cables wouldnt stick back to the tank. I have extras but being lazy I figured I'd just replace them in the morning.

Ill just run some water test to make sure my nitrates dont go wacky on me

You should be fine. Your tank is big enough to deal with things like this. If for example you would of had a 4-6" bed in a 30 gallon and its been there for 4 years. I would be very very scared. I hear a DSB can collect some bad stuff. Besides detritus it can absorb things. And imediately changing the ph of the bed could let all those things go at once. You should be fine. Hate to do a water change on thanks giving but i think it wouldnt hurt.

Thanks! On a good note all levels of the sand bed looked really clean. I guess my CUC is doing it's job. Wasn't able to do a water change, because I only had 20 gallons ready and it's thanksgiving. I have 40 gallons mixing now and plan on doing a water change in the morning.
I'll prolly do a second water change on Saturday.
