Hello fellow reefers does anyone know where i can get Salifret KH test kits in the NYC area and also can anyone suggest another KH text kit that would be just as good i was looking at the red sea ones, and lastly why is the Elos and Salifret so far apart in readings thanks guys trying to get a new test kit by tuesday :banghead::banghead::help::fish::fish:

Both Elos and Salifert are good if you're testing for KH.I believe Manhattan Aquarium carries those.

While my preferred KH kit is Salifert, you have to be careful...they can go bad. That may be the reason for why you see the big discrepancy. A little over a year ago, my alkalinity seemed to be dropping. I kept increasing the dose, and seeing no corresponding increase. By the time I realized the kit had gone bad, damage had been done. I ultimately lost clams and my corals died back. Things are fine now, and many of my "dead" corals have started new and rapid growth. Its probably a good idea to keep an extra test kit on hand.

i just started using the hanna alkalinity checker. i must admit since using it i check my alkalinity faster and easier. i just keep reagents on hand

1+ they do have ELOS test kit since thats what they use to test there water levels.

Red sea alkalinity pro is pretty good... very similar to elos and salifert and very easy to use.

:headache:thanx for all the responses i think i found a store closer to the BX that has elos and salifret so im gonna head over there monday and see whats good i wish i had the budget for the hanna one ive been put on punishment after i bought my angel lol never thought she would figure out what it really cost me lmao damned internet:fishhit::fishhit::argue:

dont get the calcium one. you have to use lab grade deionized water to get an accurate reading. and the water is not included
