So I got me one of these puppies. Looks good. But here's a silly question: the cable/wire coming out of the center - is that the probe that goes into the tank? I thought I knew what a probe looked like and this ain't really it. It's quite long too; does it have to be submerged in the water entirely or just the end part is good enough? :smash:

I have mine submerged wire and all - however i did silicone over the original silicone.

Did you submerge that entire wire? It's at least a foot long! I assume it's safe to be put into the water as-is...

??? - my temp probe looks like any other temp probe.
I think the wire is 6' long with a thick plastic end part.:scratchch :scratchch

I'm thinking of a temp-probe as on my thermometer. It's a little plastic pad - sort of like a microphone. You put that into the water and voila. This thing is a looong wire/cable with no pad on the end of it. It's just sort of clamped shut. Here's a pic of it. And yep, it's almost six feet long. So, does this whole thing have to be submerged in water?
